ArthroSupport+ – Comprehensive Study on Joint Health

Study Overview

The “ArthroSupport+” study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled investigation on the effectiveness of a specialized dietary supplement combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This study aims to enhance joint function and reduce inflammation in wheelchair users and prosthetic wearers, conducted with international collaboration at the MINST Institute in Riga.

Part 1: Joint-Support Dietary Supplement

The first part of the study examines a specially optimized dietary supplement, which incorporates natural ingredients that scientific research has shown to promote joint health:

  • Collagen Hydrolysate: Supports cartilage development and improves tissue elasticity.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Lubricates joints and reduces friction.
  • Astaxanthin: A powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Boswellia Serrata: Demonstrated to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
  • MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane): Enhances mobility and reduces pain.

The primary objective of this part of the study is to assess the effectiveness of this formulation in improving joint function (measured by the WOMAC Index) and reducing pain (VAS Scale) after 12 weeks.

Part 2: Integration of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

The second phase integrates HBOT to further support regenerative processes. The therapy involves breathing pure oxygen at 1.5 ATA in a pressurized chamber, significantly increasing blood plasma oxygen levels, which yields several physiological benefits:

  • Enhanced Tissue Regeneration: Improved oxygen delivery supports cartilage healing and wound recovery for prosthetic users (Thom et al., 2011).
  • Anti-inflammatory Effects: Reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-α benefits those with chronic joint inflammation (Buras et al., 2006).
  • Angiogenesis Promotion: Increased oxygen levels stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, aiding wound healing in prosthetic wearers (Feldmeier et al., 2003).
  • Pain Relief: Reduction of inflammation and improved tissue regeneration contribute to long-term pain relief (Kiralp et al., 2004).

Conclusion

The ArthroSupport+ study combines a targeted dietary supplement and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as an innovative approach to joint health enhancement. This holistic treatment strategy aims not only to relieve symptoms but also to contribute to long-term tissue regeneration and quality of life improvements for wheelchair users and prosthetic wearers.
